Amelia Vaughn

Co-Director of Research Capacity

Amelia joined Children’s Funding Project in the beginning of 2019 and helped to expand the organization's fiscal map portfolio and coaching tools. Now as a co-director, Amelia supports the growing strategic financing plan work of the organization by providing technical assistance, coaching and supervision to contracts with a range of local, state, and national partners.

Amelia brings her experience working with state governments and direct service to Children’s Funding Project. She has worked for the Virginia Governor’s Children’s Cabinet, where she completed her first fiscal map of supports and services for children and youth ages 0-18, and for Virginia’s Department of Medical Assistance Services where she was a policy advisor. Amelia has always been passionate about improving prenatal and early childhood outcomes. She began her career as a bilingual parent educator for the early childhood home visiting program CHIP and as a birth doula. When she is not working on innovative and empathetic solutions to providing more equitable and quality services to our youngest generation, she waterskis across the world with her husband and son.

A native of Baltimore, Amelia holds a bachelor’s degree in public health studies from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Public Health degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
